By now, you are familiar with our blog and writting and you surely have noticed we are reall proud in all things Portuguese.
Today you can learn about a portuguese interior designer that we truly admire: Vera Iachia.
“Vera Iachia Interiors & Architecture is based in Lisbon and was founded by Vera Iachia in 2000. Vera and her exceptional team possess a great understanding of all aspects and stages of a project that enable the creation of elegant residential and commercial projects.
Vera Iachia is most renown for the “Comporta Lifestyle,” for which she was the originator, with interiors, architecture and product design that marry a traditional Portuguese fisherman’s vernacular with her seamless signature contemporary aesthetic. She works extensively with materials of the region and with the local craft and artisans who skillfully interpret her ideas.
Signature design projects also include sumptuous urban residential projects and hospitality. Vera most recently completed the Hotel Vila Monte, which fully integrates all aspects of high-end boutique hospitality with the aesthetic renown to the region, re-interpreted in a fresh contemporary, authentic way.
Vera’s projects are all about context and authenticity. The colour palette is subject to and driven by the surroundings colours, allowing the landscape to be the protagonist. The contrast of light and shadow are regularly used to create space and warmth. The elegance of her projects remains in its simplicity, balance and attention to detail. In addition to working with artisans local to the areas of her client projects, she constantly travels the world unearthing design resources that feed her projects.
Vera Iachia, was born in Lisbon where she currently lives. She studied at Parsons School of Design in New York City, and started her career working for Andy Warhol, who presented her to the world of Pop Art. She went on to work with Jacques Grange in Paris, before returning to Lisbon and creating her own Interior Design consultancy.”
And because we love her work, here are a few of her projects:
Clean, simple and beautiful. Just how we love it!
